Bullmastiff Price in India (2026)

A Bullmastiff puppy in India costs about ₹20,000 to ₹50,000 from an unregistered home breeder and ₹45,000 to ₹85,000 with KCI papers, with UK and European imports from ₹65,000. Inside Scroller rates its climate suitability as moderate, because a shortened face in a 50 kilogram dog means meaningful heat sensitivity in Indian summers.

Indian climate

Needs active cooling in summer

Inside Scroller rates the breed’s climate suitability as moderate, explaining that the Bullmastiff’s face is shortened compared with a pure Mastiff, so breathing efficiency is somewhat compromised and heat sensitivity is meaningful. It says that in India’s plains climate outdoor activity must be restricted to the coolest hours in summer and cool indoor spaces matter from April to June.

Legal status

The Bullmastiff may have been caught by the 2024 central advisory, which no longer stands.

The 2024 central advisory did not name the Bullmastiff, but it did include an open-ended entry reading simply "Mastiffs", one of two entries on that list that named no breed at all. Whether a Bullmastiff fell inside it was never settled, because the Karnataka High Court quashed the circular on 10 April 2024, the Delhi High Court set it aside in April 2024, and in January 2025 the government told the Bombay High Court it was not acting on it. The vagueness of entries like that one was among the reasons the circular was challenged.

Checked . This is a summary of what the sources below report. It is not legal advice, and the position can differ by state and by housing society.

The price

Bullmastiff price by seller type

Who you buy from moves this price more than anything else does. Each row is the range our Indian sources state for that kind of seller, with the sources named in the notes column.

Where fromPrice in ₹What the sources say
Unregistered home breeder₹18,000 to ₹50,000Supertails puts a pet-quality Bullmastiff at ₹20,000 to ₹30,000 and a medium-quality dog with health certification at ₹40,000 to ₹50,000. Inside Scroller’s range starts at ₹18,000.
KCI-registered breeder₹45,000 to ₹1,00,000 and upInside Scroller gives ₹45,000 to ₹85,000 and up for KCI-registered show quality from cardiac and OFA-tested parents. Wrap In Fur prices the breed at ₹40,000 to ₹1,00,000 and PawSpace at ₹50,000 to ₹1,50,000 and up, neither splitting by seller.
Show quality₹60,000 to ₹90,000Supertails prices show or champion bloodlines from carefully planned breeding programmes at this band.
Imported line₹65,000 to ₹1,00,000 and upInside Scroller prices British bloodlines from UK Kennel Club registered programmes at this band including import costs.
Pet shopNot priced by breedNo source we found prices a pet-shop puppy breed by breed. One Indian source puts a breed puppy from a pet shop at ₹15,000 to ₹50,000 across all breeds.
Shelter or indie rescue₹0 to ₹2,000Most shelters and indie rescues charge nothing, or a nominal ₹500 to ₹2,000 that often covers the first vaccination and the sterilisation.

Variation

What changes a Bullmastiff's price

Health testing is the honest price driver here and our sources say so. Inside Scroller puts registered litters from cardiac and OFA-tested parents at ₹45,000 and up, and the breed’s known risks are cardiac and orthopaedic.

Supertails separates a pet-quality dog from basic bloodlines at ₹20,000 to ₹30,000 from a medium-quality dog with health certification at ₹40,000 to ₹50,000, which is the clearest statement of what the extra money buys.

Females are priced ₹5,000 to ₹12,000 above males on Inside Scroller.

Inside Scroller carries prophylactic gastropexy surgery at ₹15,000 to ₹35,000 as a one-off it strongly recommends, which is a real cost that belongs in the first-year budget.

What does not change it

No source we read prices a Bullmastiff by age, so the calculator on this page has no age input. A puppy is priced as a puppy and an older dog is usually a rescue rather than a sale. No source states a price difference between the sexes in this breed either, so the calculator does not ask.

What a Bullmastiff costs to keep

The calculator at the top of this page adds these up for you. The puppy price is not in the total: this is what the first year of keeping the dog costs on top of buying it.

Food₹3,500 to ₹7,000 a monthInside Scroller gives ₹3,500 to ₹7,000 and Supertails ₹5,000 to ₹7,000.
Grooming₹600 to ₹1,200 a sessionEvery 4 to 4 weeks. A short coat, so the session is cheap. Supertails instead gives ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 a month including baths, nails, ears and dental care. Inside Scroller adds ₹200 to ₹400 a month for facial fold cleaning supplies.
Puppy vaccinations₹3,000 to ₹8,000The full first-year course.
Starter accessories₹3,000 to ₹13,000Bed, crate, bowls, collar, leash and toys, once.

Food and grooming are this breed's own sourced figures. The other lines are the same for any dog and are sourced on the price calculator page.

Not in the figure

  • Spaying or neutering: about ₹1,500 to ₹5,000 at a shelter or a subsidised clinic, and ₹6,000 to ₹25,000 privately, more for a big dog.
  • Training classes: about ₹5,000 to ₹30,000 for a first course, and far more for a guarding breed.
  • Air conditioning: a real cost for a thick-coated breed in the plains, which our sources price per breed rather than generally.
  • Anything that goes wrong: one night in intensive care runs ₹12,000 to ₹25,000 and a cruciate repair ₹1.2 to ₹1.8 lakh.

The same growth engine drives our puppy weight calculator, which works in pounds. For a dog in the giant size class, weekly weight gain drops to almost nothing by about 13 months. Height finishes earlier than weight: this breed stands 61 cm to 69 cm at the shoulder when grown.

Inside Scroller is careful about this: the Bullmastiff is not as flat-faced as a Pug, but the muzzle is shortened compared with a pure Mastiff, and that costs it breathing efficiency and therefore heat tolerance.

Its practical advice for India is specific: restrict outdoor activity to the coolest hours in summer and keep cool indoor space available from April to June.

The facial folds need cleaning, which Inside Scroller prices separately at ₹200 to ₹400 a month.

Bloat is the giant-breed emergency, and this is one of the few breeds where a source recommends preventive surgery outright.

Legal

Checked . This is a summary of the court reports and news listed at the foot of this page. It is not legal advice. The position can differ by state and by housing society, and a fresh central notification would change it again. The full list of breeds the circular named, and what each court did, is on the dog price page.

Buying

How to buy a Bullmastiff responsibly

Ask about cardiac screening and hip scores in the parents. Inside Scroller names both as what separates a ₹45,000 registered litter from a ₹20,000 one.

Ask your vet about gastropexy before you need it, not after. Inside Scroller recommends it for this breed.

A 50 kilogram guarding dog needs training from the start, and our sources price a first course at ₹20,000 to ₹40,000.

The checks that apply to any puppy

  • See both parents, in the place they live. A puppy mill cannot offer you that, which is what makes it the most useful question you can ask.
  • Ask for the vaccination and deworming record with dates and what was given. The full first-year course runs ₹3,000 to ₹8,000 on our sources.
  • Check the KCI papers if you are paying for them. Both parents must be KCI-registered and carry KCI-approved microchips for a litter to be registrable, and the breeder must file within 90 days of the birth. Papers record parentage, not health.
  • Avoid a pet shop if you can. Supertails writes that many Indian pet shops source from puppy mills, and advises anyone who does buy from one to insist on the vaccination records and see a vet within 48 hours.
  • Consider a rescue. A shelter or indie rescue charges ₹0 to ₹2,000, often covering the first vaccination and the sterilisation.

FAQ

Bullmastiff prices: the questions people ask

What is the Bullmastiff price in India?
About ₹18,000 to ₹50,000 from an unregistered home breeder and ₹45,000 to ₹1,00,000 with KCI papers, across five Indian publishers. UK and European imports run ₹65,000 to ₹1,00,000 and up.
Can a Bullmastiff handle Indian heat?
Inside Scroller rates it moderate rather than good, and explains why: the shortened muzzle compromises breathing efficiency, which means meaningful heat sensitivity. Its advice is to restrict outdoor activity to the coolest hours in summer and keep cool indoor space from April to June.
Was the Bullmastiff on the banned breeds list?
Not by name. The 2024 central advisory included an open-ended "Mastiffs" entry that named no breed, and whether a Bullmastiff fell inside it was never decided, because the circular was quashed by the Karnataka High Court and set aside by the Delhi High Court in April 2024 and the government told the Bombay High Court in January 2025 it was not acting on it. Check your state and your housing society; this is not legal advice.
What is gastropexy and why do sources recommend it for a Bullmastiff?
It is preventive surgery that tacks the stomach in place to reduce the risk of it twisting, which is the fatal form of bloat. Inside Scroller rates the breed’s bloat risk elevated and prices the procedure at ₹15,000 to ₹35,000 as a one-off it strongly recommends.
How much does a Bullmastiff cost to keep each month in India?
Inside Scroller gives ₹8,000 to ₹18,000 and Supertails ₹8,750 to ₹13,500, with food the largest line at ₹3,500 to ₹7,000.
How big does a Bullmastiff get in kg?
45.4 to 59 kg as an adult, on the American Kennel Club standard, which states it as 110-130 pounds (male), 100-120 pounds (female). Height at the shoulder is 61 to 69 cm. Most of the weight gain is done by about 13 months for a dog in the giant size class.

India’s own breeds

Native alternatives of about this size

A Bullmastiff runs 45.4 to 59 kg on the American Kennel Club standard. One native breed of about that size, with the weight our sources actually measured, and the thing that usually decides it in India: whether the dog needs cooling.

Read the climate line on those cards before you take this as a recommendation. At this weight the only measured native breed we have is a Himalayan flock guardian, and our sources say it struggles on the plains. If you live anywhere hot, a native breed is not the easy answer at this size: the honest answer is a smaller dog.

Put any two of them side by side in the comparison tool, or see all fifteen native breeds, measured and unmeasured, on the breeds pages.
