Inside Scroller’s metro rows run ₹50,000 to ₹1,40,000. Supertails gives Chennai, the cheapest city in its table, as ₹40,000 to ₹50,000 pet quality and ₹52,000 to ₹72,000 with KCI papers.

The price
Corgi price by seller type
Who you buy from moves this price more than anything else does. Each row is the range our Indian sources state for that kind of seller, with the sources named in the notes column.
| Where from | Price in ₹ | What the sources say |
|---|---|---|
| Unregistered home breeder | ₹20,000 to ₹50,000 | What's The Cost puts a pet-quality Corgi with no papers at ₹20,000 to ₹50,000. Supertails prices pet quality by city, from ₹40,000 to ₹50,000 in Chennai upward. Between them they are the only sources that price the unregistered end of this market, which is itself a sign of how few Corgis are bred in India. |
| KCI-registered breeder | ₹40,000 to ₹85,000 | What's The Cost gives ₹40,000 to ₹75,000 for KCI registration and Supertails ₹60,000 to ₹85,000 for a KCI-registered Corgi. Inside Scroller puts KCI, show or import quality together at ₹80,000 to ₹1,50,000 and up. |
| Show quality | ₹60,000 to ₹1,50,000 and up | Supertails prices show quality by city, from ₹75,000 to ₹1,10,000 in Chennai upward. |
| Imported line | ₹90,000 to ₹2,40,000 and up | Inside Scroller gives ₹90,000 to ₹1,50,000 and up for a dog imported from the UK, Europe or the US, with import costs adding ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000. What's The Cost puts an imported bloodline at ₹1,80,000 to ₹2,40,000. |
| Pet shop | Not priced by breed | No source we found prices a pet-shop puppy breed by breed. One Indian source puts a breed puppy from a pet shop at ₹15,000 to ₹50,000 across all breeds. |
| Shelter or indie rescue | ₹0 to ₹2,000 | Most shelters and indie rescues charge nothing, or a nominal ₹500 to ₹2,000 that often covers the first vaccination and the sterilisation. |

Variation
What changes a Corgi's price
Rarity, plainly. Inside Scroller says there are very few established Corgi breeders in India and that most quality dogs are either imported directly or bred from recently imported stock, which is why even the unregistered end starts at ₹20,000.
Import logistics add ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000 on Inside Scroller, before the dog.
Females are priced ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 above males on Inside Scroller.
Supertails puts a Corgi’s first year at ₹95,000 to ₹2,15,000 all in and names grooming and orthopaedic care as the reasons it runs higher than a Beagle or a Dachshund of similar size.
What does not change it
No source we read prices a Corgi by age, so the calculator on this page has no age input. A puppy is priced as a puppy and an older dog is usually a rescue rather than a sale. No source states a price difference between the sexes in this breed either, so the calculator does not ask.

What a Corgi costs to keep
The calculator at the top of this page adds these up for you. The puppy price is not in the total: this is what the first year of keeping the dog costs on top of buying it.
| Line | Figure | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Food | ₹1,600 to ₹4,000 a month | Inside Scroller gives ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 and Supertails ₹1,600 to ₹3,000, moving from puppy to adult formula at twelve months. |
| Grooming | ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 a session | Every 6 to 8 weeks. Inside Scroller gives ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 a session and Supertails ₹1,200 to ₹1,800, both on a six to eight week cycle for the double coat. |
| Puppy vaccinations | ₹3,000 to ₹8,000 | The full first-year course. |
| Starter accessories | ₹3,000 to ₹13,000 | Bed, crate, bowls, collar, leash and toys, once. |
| Cooling | ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 a month | Supertails prices cooling as prevention against heat stress, which it rates a high-prevalence risk for the breed in India’s hot zones. Not in the calculator total, because it depends on your house rather than your dog. |
Food and grooming are this breed's own sourced figures. The other lines are the same for any dog and are sourced on the price calculator page.

Not in the figure
- Spaying or neutering: about ₹1,500 to ₹5,000 at a shelter or a subsidised clinic, and ₹6,000 to ₹25,000 privately, more for a big dog.
- Training classes: about ₹5,000 to ₹30,000 for a first course, and far more for a guarding breed.
- Air conditioning: a real cost for a thick-coated breed in the plains, which our sources price per breed rather than generally.
- Anything that goes wrong: one night in intensive care runs ₹12,000 to ₹25,000 and a cruciate repair ₹1.2 to ₹1.8 lakh.
Adult size

The AKC standard for the Pembroke Welsh Corgi sets a ceiling rather than a range: up to 30 pounds for a male and up to 28 for a female. The 22 pound bottom of the range here is our own, so the growth chart has somewhere to start.

The same growth engine drives our puppy weight calculator, which works in pounds. For a dog in the medium size class, weekly weight gain drops to almost nothing by about 10 months. Height finishes earlier than weight: this breed stands 25 cm to 30 cm at the shoulder when grown.
Indian climate
Needs active cooling in summer
Supertails rates heat stress and heat stroke a high-prevalence risk for Corgis in India’s hot zones, critical in May and June when temperatures pass 38°C, prices emergency treatment at ₹8,000 to ₹25,000 and prevention at ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 a month, and separately rates tropical parasitic infections very high and a year-round concern.
Supertails treats heat as a named, high-prevalence health risk for this breed in India, not a comfort question, and puts the critical window at May and June when temperatures pass 38°C.
The double coat is the reason, and it also sets the grooming bill at ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 every six to eight weeks.
The back is the other thing to plan for. A long spine on short legs means stairs and jumping down from furniture are a lifelong management problem, and Supertails carries orthopaedic care as a reason Corgis cost more to keep than similar-sized breeds.

Buying
How to buy a Corgi responsibly
In a market this thin, verifying the pedigree matters more than usual. Inside Scroller calls KCI registration essential for verifying that an expensive imported-line puppy is what it is sold as.
Ask about the parents’ backs and hips, and about how the breeder manages stairs and jumping with their own dogs.
The checks that apply to any puppy
- See both parents, in the place they live. A puppy mill cannot offer you that, which is what makes it the most useful question you can ask.
- Ask for the vaccination and deworming record with dates and what was given. The full first-year course runs ₹3,000 to ₹8,000 on our sources.
- Check the KCI papers if you are paying for them. Both parents must be KCI-registered and carry KCI-approved microchips for a litter to be registrable, and the breeder must file within 90 days of the birth. Papers record parentage, not health.
- Avoid a pet shop if you can. Supertails writes that many Indian pet shops source from puppy mills, and advises anyone who does buy from one to insist on the vaccination records and see a vet within 48 hours.
- Consider a rescue. A shelter or indie rescue charges ₹0 to ₹2,000, often covering the first vaccination and the sterilisation.
FAQ
Corgi prices: the questions people ask
- What is the Corgi price in India?
- About ₹20,000 to ₹50,000 from an unregistered home breeder and ₹40,000 to ₹85,000 with KCI papers, across three Indian publishers. Imported lines run ₹90,000 to ₹2,40,000 depending on the source.
- Why are Corgis so expensive in India?
- Inside Scroller answers this directly: they are genuinely rare here. There are very few established breeders, most quality specimens are imported or bred from recently imported stock, and the import process adds ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000 on top of the purchase price abroad.
- Can a Corgi handle Indian heat?
- It needs help. Supertails rates heat stress a high-prevalence risk for the breed in India’s hot zones, critical in May and June above 38°C, and prices cooling at ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 a month against emergency treatment at ₹8,000 to ₹25,000.
- How much does a Corgi cost in the first year in India?
- Supertails puts it at ₹95,000 to ₹2,15,000 including the puppy, with grooming on a six to eight week cycle and orthopaedic care the lines that push it above a Beagle or Dachshund.
- Are Corgi back problems a real risk?
- Yes, and it is a structural feature of the breed rather than bad luck. A long spine on short legs makes stairs and jumping down a lifelong management question, which is why Supertails carries spinal health as a standing cost for the breed in India.
- How big does a Corgi get in kg?
- 10 to 13.6 kg as an adult, on the American Kennel Club standard, which states it as up to 30 pounds (male), up to 28 pounds (female). Height at the shoulder is 25 to 30 cm. Most of the weight gain is done by about 10 months for a dog in the medium size class.

India’s own breeds
Native alternatives of about this size
Nothing we could offer here honestly. A Corgi is 10 to 13.6 kg on the American Kennel Club standard, and no native Indian breed with a published measurement is close enough in size for us to call it an alternative.
India’s small native dogs have never been formally measured. The Indian Spitz is the obvious candidate and it has no registry descriptor and no characterization study we could find; the Indie is a landrace with no standard at all. There are weights for both on pages that sell puppies, and we are not going to set one of those beside a kennel club standard as though the two were the same kind of claim.
The native breeds pages list all fifteen, measured and unmeasured, and say which is which.
