Havapoo full grown

A full grown Havapoo usually weighs less than 15 pounds. Both parents are small: a Havanese is 7 to 13 pounds and a Miniature Poodle 10 to 15, while a Toy Poodle is only 4 to 6. Expect a dog of 7 to 15 pounds standing around 9 to 14 inches.

Fair. Four to five months is the usual time to make this estimate. It is reasonable now, but the range is still wide.

In short

Key takeaways

  1. A full grown Havapoo weighs 7 to 15 lb across all its sizes.
  2. No kennel club recognizes the Havapoo, so these are typical ranges built from the parent breeds and a veterinary publisher.
  3. Most of the growing is done by about 10 months.
  4. A curly or doodle coat means regular paid grooming, which is a real yearly cost.
  5. The chart below shows a band, not a line, because individual dogs vary.

PetMD says a full grown Havapoo "will typically weigh less than 15 pounds" and gives no height. The range here is built from that ceiling and the two parent standards.

Havapoo growth chart. Weight runs from about 2 to 4 pounds at 2 months, up to about 7 to 15 pounds at 18 months, for a full grown Havapoo.

Timing

When a Havapoo stops growing

In our figures, a dog in the toy size class has done almost all of its weight gain by about 10 months. After that the weekly gain drops below a quarter of a percent of adult weight, which is slow enough that you will not see it on the scales week to week.

Height finishes earlier than weight. The AKC puts small breeds at full size by 6 to 8 months, medium breeds at around 12 months, and giant breeds at 12 to 18 months, with some very large breeds taking up to 24.

Variation

Why individual Havapoos differ

Both parent breeds are small and close in size, so a Havapoo is one of the more predictable mixes. There is much less spread here than in a Bernedoodle or a Pomsky.

The coat varies more than the size. A Havapoo can take the Havanese silky coat, the Poodle curl, or something between, and the curlier it is the more clipping it needs.

Running cost

Grooming a Havapoo

A curly or doodle coat is a running cost, and it is worth knowing the figure before you take a puppy home rather than after. The price per groom goes up with the size of the dog.

FAQ

Questions people ask

How big is a Havapoo full grown?
7 to 15 pounds across every size this breed comes in, standing 9 to 14 inches at the shoulder. No registry recognizes this cross, so these are typical ranges rather than a standard.
How can I tell how big my Havapoo puppy will get?
Weigh your puppy and enter its age in the calculator on this page. It is already set to the toy growth curve for this breed, so it works backwards from where your puppy is now rather than from the breed average. Four to six months is when the estimate is most reliable.
How often does a Havapoo need grooming?
A curly or doodle coat needs a groom every 4 to 6 weeks under published guidance. Over a year that adds up, and the grooming cost estimator works out what it comes to for a dog this size.
When does a Havapoo stop growing?
Weight gain slows to almost nothing at around 10 months for a dog in the toy size class. Height finishes earlier than weight in every breed.
How big is a Havapoo full grown?
Usually under 15 pounds. A Toy Poodle parent brings that down toward 8 or 9 pounds, and a Miniature Poodle parent pushes it to the top of the range.
When is a Havapoo fully grown?
By about ten months. Toy-size dogs do nearly all their growing in the first eight months and then add only a little.
Is a Havapoo the same as a Cavapoo?
No. A Havapoo has a Havanese parent and a Cavapoo has a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel parent. A Cavalier is heavier, 13 to 18 pounds against the Havanese 7 to 13, so a Cavapoo tends to finish a little larger.

Method

How we calculate this

The adult weight and height come from the sources below. The shape of the growth chart comes from our own calculation on the open data behind a published veterinary growth standard, described on the how we calculate page. The charts are estimates built from a breed range and a population curve, not measurements of this breed.
