A Pomeranian puppy in India costs about ₹3,000 to ₹35,000 from an unregistered home breeder and ₹25,000 to ₹75,000 from a KCI-registered one, with show lines going to ₹80,000. It is the most commonly bought small breed in India and has the widest price spread of any breed on this list, because the unregistered market in Poms is vast.

Inside Scroller’s metro rows run ₹5,000 to ₹60,000. Pet Care Tips, pricing the unregistered market, gives ₹10,000 to ₹22,000 for Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata and ₹20,000 to ₹30,000 for Chennai.

Indian climate
Needs active cooling in summer
Supertails says Pomeranians need air-conditioned living through India’s hot months, May to September, prices heat management at ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 a month, and states plainly that the breed is not suitable for unair-conditioned homes in India’s warm zones.
The Pomeranian was not on the list in the 2024 central advisory.

The price
Pomeranian price by seller type
Who you buy from moves this price more than anything else does. Each row is the range our Indian sources state for that kind of seller, with the sources named in the notes column.
| Where from | Price in ₹ | What the sources say |
|---|---|---|
| Unregistered home breeder | ₹3,000 to ₹35,000 | Inside Scroller’s range starts at ₹3,000 and puts the common Indian pet-quality Pom at ₹8,000 to ₹35,000. Pet Care Tips gives ₹7,000 to ₹30,000 across its city table and says prices start around ₹3,000. Aruani Pet Stop gives ₹10,000 to ₹35,000. Supertails, pricing breeders only, will not go below ₹15,000. |
| KCI-registered breeder | ₹25,000 to ₹75,000 and up | Supertails gives ₹25,000 to ₹40,000 for KCI registered and Inside Scroller ₹30,000 to ₹75,000 and up for KCI registered or show quality. Mr n Mrs Pet states ₹25,000 to ₹90,000 and up. |
| Show quality | ₹40,000 to ₹80,000 and up | A conformation prospect from a proven line. |
| Pet shop | Not priced by breed | No source we found prices a pet-shop puppy breed by breed. One Indian source puts a breed puppy from a pet shop at ₹15,000 to ₹50,000 across all breeds. |
| Shelter or indie rescue | ₹0 to ₹2,000 | Most shelters and indie rescues charge nothing, or a nominal ₹500 to ₹2,000 that often covers the first vaccination and the sterilisation. |

Variation
What changes a Pomeranian's price
"Toy" and "teacup" are sales words, not sizes. Inside Scroller says so directly: it calls them a marketing term rather than a recognised breed category for Poms under 2 kg, prices the premium at ₹40,000 to ₹90,000, and warns that very small Poms are often the result of breeding the smallest and most fragile puppies, which brings significant health problems. The AKC standard is simply 3 to 7 pounds, with nothing below it.
Coat and face shape carry a premium. Inside Scroller prices white coats and the rounder "bear face" look at ₹20,000 to ₹60,000 depending on coat quality and facial structure. Neither is a standard category.
KCI papers roughly double the price at the pet end, from ₹8,000 to ₹35,000 unregistered to ₹25,000 to ₹75,000 registered on our sources.
This breed has the widest city spread on our data, because the two sources are pricing different markets: ₹5,000 to ₹60,000 across the metros on Inside Scroller against ₹10,000 to ₹22,000 in the same cities on Pet Care Tips.
What does not change it
No source we read prices a Pomeranian by age, so the calculator on this page has no age input. A puppy is priced as a puppy and an older dog is usually a rescue rather than a sale. No source states a price difference between the sexes in this breed either, so the calculator does not ask.

Running cost
What a Pomeranian costs to keep
The calculator at the top of this page adds these up for you. The puppy price is not in the total: this is what the first year of keeping the dog costs on top of buying it.
| Line | Figure | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Food | ₹900 to ₹3,000 a month | Inside Scroller gives ₹1,500 to ₹3,000 for premium small-breed food and Supertails ₹900 to ₹1,400 on its economical budget. |
| Grooming | ₹600 to ₹1,500 a session | Every 4 to 6 weeks. Inside Scroller gives ₹600 to ₹1,500 a session and Supertails ₹600 to ₹1,000 a month. Both put the interval at four to six weeks because of the dense double coat. |
| Puppy vaccinations | ₹3,000 to ₹8,000 | The full first-year course. |
| Starter accessories | ₹3,000 to ₹13,000 | Bed, crate, bowls, collar, leash and toys, once. |
| Cooling | ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 a month | Supertails prices heat management at ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 a month through the summer, May to September. Not in the calculator total, because it depends on your house rather than your dog. |
Food and grooming are this breed's own sourced figures. The other lines are the same for any dog and are sourced on the price calculator page.

Not in the figure
- Spaying or neutering: about ₹1,500 to ₹5,000 at a shelter or a subsidised clinic, and ₹6,000 to ₹25,000 privately, more for a big dog.
- Training classes: about ₹5,000 to ₹30,000 for a first course, and far more for a guarding breed.
- Air conditioning: a real cost for a thick-coated breed in the plains, which our sources price per breed rather than generally.
- Anything that goes wrong: one night in intensive care runs ₹12,000 to ₹25,000 and a cruciate repair ₹1.2 to ₹1.8 lakh.

The same growth engine drives our puppy weight calculator, which works in pounds. For a dog in the toy size class, weekly weight gain drops to almost nothing by about 10 months. Height finishes earlier than weight: this breed stands 15 cm to 18 cm at the shoulder when grown.
A Pomeranian is a tiny dog under a very large double coat, and Supertails does not hedge about it: not suitable for unair-conditioned homes in India’s warm zones, with heat management costing ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 a month from May to September.
Do not solve that by shaving the coat. The same logic applies as for any double-coated breed: the coat insulates both ways and shaving it can permanently spoil the regrowth.
Teeth are the other cost nobody budgets for. Supertails says dental disease affects more than 60 percent of Pomeranians and puts prevention at ₹500 to ₹1,200 a month against ₹10,000 to ₹30,000 and up to treat.

Buying
How to buy a Pomeranian responsibly
Walk away from "teacup". Inside Scroller is explicit that it is a marketing term and that the dogs behind it are often bred from the smallest and most fragile puppies in a line.
A Pom at ₹3,000 is a real listing in India and it is not a bargain. Inside Scroller says to be very cautious below ₹5,000.
Ask the adult weight of both parents. In a breed with a 3 to 7 pound standard, the parents tell you more than any label on the puppy.
The checks that apply to any puppy
- See both parents, in the place they live. A puppy mill cannot offer you that, which is what makes it the most useful question you can ask.
- Ask for the vaccination and deworming record with dates and what was given. The full first-year course runs ₹3,000 to ₹8,000 on our sources.
- Check the KCI papers if you are paying for them. Both parents must be KCI-registered and carry KCI-approved microchips for a litter to be registrable, and the breeder must file within 90 days of the birth. Papers record parentage, not health.
- Avoid a pet shop if you can. Supertails writes that many Indian pet shops source from puppy mills, and advises anyone who does buy from one to insist on the vaccination records and see a vet within 48 hours.
- Consider a rescue. A shelter or indie rescue charges ₹0 to ₹2,000, often covering the first vaccination and the sterilisation.
FAQ
Pomeranian prices: the questions people ask
- What is the toy Pomeranian price in India?
- There is no such size. Inside Scroller calls "toy" and "teacup" a marketing term rather than a recognised category for Poms under 2 kg, and prices the premium at ₹40,000 to ₹90,000 while warning that such dogs are often bred from the smallest and most fragile puppies in a litter. An ordinary Pomeranian is ₹3,000 to ₹35,000 unregistered and ₹25,000 to ₹75,000 with KCI papers.
- Why are Pomeranian prices in India so different from site to site?
- Because the market is split in two and few pages say which half they are pricing. Pet Care Tips prices the unregistered street-level market and gives ₹7,000 to ₹30,000. Supertails prices breeders and starts at ₹15,000. Inside Scroller spans both and starts at ₹3,000. All three are describing something real.
- Can a Pomeranian live in India without air conditioning?
- Supertails says the breed is not suitable for unair-conditioned homes in India’s warm zones and prices cooling at ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 a month from May to September. That is a stronger statement than it makes about any other small breed.
- How much does a Pomeranian cost to keep each month in India?
- Supertails gives three budgets: ₹2,300 to ₹3,700 economical, ₹4,100 to ₹6,300 recommended and ₹6,500 to ₹9,700 premium. Inside Scroller gives ₹3,500 to ₹8,000. Grooming every four to six weeks is the line most new owners underestimate.
- What is a bear-face Pomeranian and is it worth more?
- It is a face shape, not a variety. Inside Scroller says white coats and the rounder bear-face look fetch ₹20,000 to ₹60,000 in India depending on coat and facial structure. No registry recognises it and it carries no health advantage.
- How big does a Pomeranian get in kg?
- 1.4 to 3.2 kg as an adult, on the American Kennel Club standard, which states it as 3-7 pounds. Height at the shoulder is 15 to 18 cm. Most of the weight gain is done by about 10 months for a dog in the toy size class.

India’s own breeds
Native alternatives of about this size
Nothing we could offer here honestly. A Pomeranian is 1.4 to 3.2 kg on the American Kennel Club standard, and no native Indian breed with a published measurement is close enough in size for us to call it an alternative.
India’s small native dogs have never been formally measured. The Indian Spitz is the obvious candidate and it has no registry descriptor and no characterization study we could find; the Indie is a landrace with no standard at all. There are weights for both on pages that sell puppies, and we are not going to set one of those beside a kennel club standard as though the two were the same kind of claim.
The native breeds pages list all fifteen, measured and unmeasured, and say which is which.
